When did your baby learn to clap his/her hands?

My 9 month old daughter loves it when I sing Patty Cake and hold her hands to clap them for her. She always smiles so big and laughs a ton. Then when I let go of her hands and try to show her how to clap with my own, she just stares so seriously at me. She’s started slapping her leg to make the clapping sound LOL but no actual claps as of yet…

Oh that’s cute…my son did the leg slapping thing for awhile.

He didn’t pick up clapping until around his birthday. Now I can’t get him to stop. He climbs down from the couch…claps. Climbs up on the bed…claps. Hands me a toy…claps. You get the idea. I think we did so much clapping with “good job!” for the small accomplishments it really stuck.
